Park Jefferson defeats Mother Nature for SLMR/IMCA Shootout

Mother Nature wanted to participate in racing action at the Park Jefferson oval on Saturday night courtesy of Zeitner & Sons, but thanks to a track crew and staff that persisted, along with a tremendous group of push trucks, the Park Jefferson Speedway was able to get its first full night of IMCA racing in with all divisions capped by the annual visit of the MBSLMR Late Models. A long night of racing resulted in some familiar faces in victory lane as some veterans proved their knowledge of the slick PJ oval.

It was event sponsor Justin Zeitner took an early command of the MBSLRM race from the front row. Zeitner jumped to the point and held the early advantage at Park Jeff. Just past the halfway point it was series king Kyle Berck took over the top spot he would not relinquish. Zeitner captured second in one of his top performances in a late model and Tad Pospisil finished third. Zeitner had much experience at Park Jefferson picking up a number of top prizes in the IMCA Modified division.

In the Artworks Graphics IMCA Modifieds, it was Jay Noteboom who continued his assault on the record books at Park Jeff by picking up the feature win for $700. Noteboom came from the 4th row by working all lanes of the track to get the win over rookie Todd Boulware, who continues to impress. Jim Thies was 3rd.

The J&J Fitting Stock Cars continues to be a must watch division, with Nebraska's Ryan Harris sticking his brand new chassis in victory lane. Ryan bested a stout field of 21 cars to win over the new Mr. Consistency Jason Ward and division sponsor Casey Jones with a top podium run.

The IMCA Sport Modifieds are becoming the personal playground of Sioux City's Cody Thompson. Thompson, who swept opening weekend as well as picking up feature wins in Kansas earlier, roared from row 7 to win the Sport Modified class. Jeff Brunssen and Beresford's Kole Nordquist continue to re arrange the top spot in the division as they finished second and third.

The Z98 Hobby Stocks threw a crazy wild race at fans to enjoy as Cory Probst came from the 4th row to pick up the victory. With multi time 2017 victor handy Hoffman stuck back in handicapping, it was Probst who found the preferred groove around the track to win over Jeremy Smith and Richard Wynn.

The IMCA Sport Compacts continue to be an intriguing division as David Bates and Derek Boggs renewed their 2017 rivalry to battle it out for the top spot. It was Bates who captured the checkered flags with Boggs second and Yankton's Connor Brown finishing third.

The IMCA Sprint Cars finish results were delayed and will be available at a later date.
